Peace Corps Sri Lanka Engages with University of Jaffna to Explore Opportunities for Collaboration

The University of Jaffna welcomed representatives of Peace Corps Sri Lanka on 1 September 2026 for a meeting at the Office of the Vice Chancellor to explore potential opportunities for collaboration, particularly in strengthening English-language learning and student development.

The meeting followed an initiative proposed by the University to facilitate engagement with Peace Corps volunteers to support English-language enhancement and exposure-sharing opportunities for University of Jaffna students, particularly those in humanitarian and social science disciplines.

Representing Peace Corps Sri Lanka were Mr. A. Thamilchelvan, Programming and Training Specialist, and Miss Sophie, Peace Corps Volunteer. The meeting provided an opportunity to introduce the Peace Corps and its work in Sri Lanka, discuss current projects, explore the prospective expansion of its engagement with higher education institutions, and identify potential areas of partnership with the University of Jaffna.

The engagement reflects the University’s continued efforts to create greater international exposure and opportunities for its students, while connecting them with global networks, language-learning opportunities and diverse cultural experiences.

The University of Jaffna looks forward to exploring meaningful avenues of collaboration with Peace Corps Sri Lanka and creating new opportunities that contribute to the personal, academic and professional development of its students.
