MOU Signing Ceremony between the University of Jaffna and the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, India

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Signing Ceremony between the University of Jaffna, Sri Lanka and The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, India was successfully held on Monday, 05th January 2026, at 9.30 a.m. in the Board Room, University of Jaffna.
The ceremony was organized by the Faculty of Siddha Medicine, University of Jaffna, with the objective of strengthening academic collaboration, research cooperation, and mutual exchange in the field of Siddha Medicine.
The programme commenced at 9.30 a.m. with the Vice chancellors speech introducing the university and this was followed by the Welcome Address delivered by Dr. (Mrs.)
- Sritharan, Senior Lecturer, Department of Noi Naadal Chikitchai, Faculty of Siddha Medicine.
The Dean of the Faculty of Siddha Medicine, Dr. (Mrs.) V. Sathiyaseelan, delivered an insightful address highlighting the importance of international collaboration and the scope of this MoU would bring to undergraduate and postgraduate students, academics, and researchers of both institutions. Dean expressed her sincere thanks to the academic of the faculty who worked behind this MOU signing.
Subsequently, Prof. N. Kabilan, Head, Department of Siddha, The Tamil Nadu Dr.
M.G.R. Medical University, addressed the gathering and emphasized the scope of academic exchange, joint research, and future collaborative programmes under this MoU.
At 10.05 a.m., the Memorandum of Understanding was formally signed by the authorized representatives of both universities, marking a significant milestone in strengthening bilateral academic relations.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jaffna, Prof. S. Srisatkunarajah, delivered a special address at 10.45 a.m., expressing his pleasure over the University’s international collaboration and reaffirming the University of Jaffna’s commitment to advancing Siddha medical education and research through global partnerships.
At 11.00 a.m., the Vice-Chancellor of The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Prof. K. Narayanasamy, addressed the audience and shared his views on fostering
long-term cooperation, importance of Siddha Medicine, knowledge sharing, and mutual academic growth between the two universities.
The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Mr. V. Kandeepan, Registrar, University of Jaffna, who expressed gratitude to all dignitaries, organizers, and participants for making the event a success.
The MoU Signing Ceremony was conducted in a cordial and dignified manner and marked an important step towards enhancing international academic collaboration in the field of Siddha Medicine
