Opening of the Faculty of Engineering Gate and Commencement of Water Supply from Newly Constructed Dug Well
The newly constructed Faculty of Engineering Gate and the dug well and water supply facility at the Kilinochchi Premises of the University of Jaffna were ceremonially opened and commissioned on 1st of September 2026 by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Jaffna. The construction of the Faculty of Engineering Gate incurred a total expenditure of approximately Rs. 7.0 million. Similarly, the construction of the dug well and associated water supply facility incurred an expenditure of Rs. 4.7 million. Both projects were funded through the Rehabilitation Fund provided by the Treasury and were implemented with the objective of improving essential infrastructure and facilities at the Kilinochchi Premises.The newly constructed gate provides an improved and more functional entrance to the Faculty of Engineering, while the newly constructed dug well and water supply facility will provide an essential water supply to support the needs of students and staff. These facilities represent an important improvement to the infrastructure, functionality, and overall environment of the Faculty of Engineering and the Kilinochchi Premises. The projects are expected to contribute to providing a more convenient, safe, and conducive environment for the University community.
