ICDE–2026

The inauguration of the 2nd International Conference on Decolonizing English (ICDE–2026) organised by the Department of English Language Teaching, Faculty of Arts, University of Jaffna, in collaboration with our distinguished Evan Pugh Professor Suresh Canagarajah of Pennsylvania State University, USA, was held on 12th August 2026 at the Kailasapathy Auditorium.

The conference is a channel to bring together scholars, academics, researchers, and practitioners from Sri Lanka and across the globe to engage with the theme of “Decolonizing English.”

There are around 110 papers read in this conference. The conference incorporates keynote and plenary addresses, spotlight and technical sessions, and a panel discussion.

It is hoped that the discussions and collaborations fostered through ICDE–2026 will contribute to more inclusive, equitable, and context-sensitive approaches to English language education and scholarship.
