Vacancy for the Temporary Research Assistant

Study on Heat stress, kidney health, and lived experience of communities in the climate frontlines in Sri Lanka: An interdisciplinary population health analysis through a planetary health lens
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Allied Health Sciences, Science, or a related field from a UGC-approved university or a recognized Higher Education Institution (HEI).
- Preference will be given to candidates with a postgraduate qualification in a related field.
- Prior experience in environmental health, climate change, health systems research, or community-based research will be considered an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the project by coordinating field research activities across study sites by working with health care providers, stakeholders, community members, and research teams.
- Strengthening local expertise through training in health & environmental systems research.
- Liaise with healthcare providers and community leaders to ensure ethical, culturally appropriate, and high-quality data collection.
- Assist with participant recruitment, sample collection (blood and urine), and handling wearable devices and meteorological data.
- Assist in conducting key informant interviews with participants.
- Contribute to community and health system needs assessments related to climate resilience and kidney health.
- Conduct literature reviews, gap analyses, support protocol development and collect, manage, and analyse quantitative and qualitative data using statistical and/or computational tools.
- Contribute to preparing policy briefs, reports, manuscripts, and presentations for national and international dissemination.
- Participate in stakeholder engagement activities, dissemination workshops, and meetings with the interdisciplinary planetary health network.
- Contribute to training sessions on research methods or data analysis.
- Facilitate the translation of research findings into actionable recommendations for national and regional health and environmental policy.
Remuneration:
- A monthly salary of LKR 80,000 will be paid.
General Conditions:
- Ability to work in any part of Sri Lanka.
- The selected candidate will be appointed full-time for one year and the appointment is subject to renewal based on performance and project needs.
- Candidates must be citizens of Sri Lanka.
- Age should be between 25 and 45 years.
- The selected candidate will contribute to the Employee Provident Fund (EPF) and the Employee Trust Fund (ETF). The employee is required to contribute 8% of their monthly salary to the EPF, while the employer will contribute 12% to the EPF and 3% to the ETF.
A non-refundable fee of Rs. 100.00 must be paid via bank deposit to the People’s Bank, Account No: 970000090000387, in favor of the Bursar, University of Jaffna. A copy of the bank slip must be attached to the application.
